Hotel Acquaverde in Via
Balbi occupies four floors of a late eighteenth-century palace, later
inhabited Genovese families of the rich merchant class.
Currently
the building, in addition to our structure accommodates
several offices. Remaining vestiges of its past splendor frescoes,
interesting examples of Baroque wall painting on the ceiling of some of
the rooms.
The
hotel's clientele, its central position of the structure, backgrounds:
university students and businessmen, workers away as well as Italian
and foreign tourists, they spend in relax their stay with us, aided by
courtesy of our staff to know Genoa, its history and its points of
tourist and cultural interest.
The
young and enterprising proprietors have been operating for 20 years
activities, always trying to improve and consolidate the latter, due to
their continuous and fruitful efforts, aimed at improve and develop the
interesting features structure in order to try to ensure, for each type
of Customer, the satisfaction in his persistence at the hotel.
The
Via Balbi, originally the "Road of the Great Spoiled" made between 1606
and 1620 on public initiative and resumed the model became established
with the noble road New Road, then via Garibaldi: the path connects the
square with Piazza della Nunziata Acquaverde whose name derives from
the waters of the stream that ran through St. Hugh the place where at
this point, formed a small pond green for herbs outcropping at the
surface.
La
Piazza suffered several systems up to the present with the statue of
Christopher Columbus (as desired by Carlo Alberto and proposed by the
Marquis Marcello Durazzo), whose execution was Bartolini but then
entrusted to the completion of two Carrara, and Franzone Svanascini.
The bas-reliefs at the base of the statue are the work of Gaggini, A.
Costoli, GB.Cevasco and S. Revelli. It was inaugurated in 1862.
Currently
based in the Faculty of Humanities via Balbi University
located in old palaces Modern, the Royal Palace Museum with the
premises of the Superintendent local churches of SS. Victor and St.
Charles, several beautiful palaces private system of "Roll", among
which the residence Durazzo Pallavicini family and, in Piazza Nunziata,
the building Belimbau. |
